Pros

Friendly coworkers, good location, acceptable benefits, immediate manager was not a micromanager so that was a plus, However that was it for the pros.

Cons

Long hours 50 - 55 hour work week the norm. Pay was poor when taking into consideration the hours. Only path for advancement was managing people

Pros

Location is at Pleasanton. Dublin Pleastaon Bart station is newly opened and within walking distance. Most co-workers are great and friendly.

Cons

if you are a software engineer who wants to focus mainly on your software development tasks and you consider yourself an 'implementer', you need to think carefully because i can't speak for other departments/groups, but unfortunately, within my group, following problems did exist based on my specific experience and observation 1) people get treated unfairly and differently. smaller groups are formed and you are not evaluated based on your actual contributions, but rather based on whether you belong to the 'special groups' , i.e. - family members/friends of family members/etc... 2) very complicated relationship and unprofessional. people that are incompetent and will not get a job even as entry-level developer anywhere else are getting paid and protected if her significant one is one of the manager. just keep silent or you will get retaliated like me 3) you don't feel proud to work there. accomplishments goes to the manager or his friends. the best thing my incompetent manager could do is to find anything to blame you. manager is rude, arrogant and unprofessional. will not appreciate your time, efforts, talent, anything unless - (GRROOOUUUPPP) YOU KNOW 4) if you get retaliated for reason 2), expect to have minimum tasks assigned to you in order to make you embarrassed or have the least changeling tasks assigned to you. 5) you know it is the good time for you to find a better opportunity somewhere where as senior software engineer, you work is appreciated and people are nice, i am so glad i did

Pros

Relatively stable company because of the fact it's backed by Safeway. Business has been doing OK.

Cons

It's hard to start listing all the cons about BHN because there are so many. It is an extremely political environment so unless you're fond of spending most of your time dealing with people with personal agenda this is not a job for you. There are so many people there fighting for a better position for themselves and they would do anything they could to get it. This kind of behavior not only happens among worker bees but also senior management. At BHN, it's normal to see people stepping on each other, treating worker bees (specially contractors) with no respect. And if you're an IT professional, you will most likely end up in the worst environment in the whole company. However, if you're a master at talking about big topics in meetings to make people believe you really understand what you're talking about and you never really quite deliver or even follow up, BHN is definitely a place for you to thrive.
