Good Resume Fluff

Pros

BT has a full roster of amazing "Fun People", and it was a pleasure to meet and work with so many of them. A good way to flesh out your resume if you're looking to break out of retail or service. Opportunity to advance if you're well liked. Barry Blanton and Heidi Turner care about their company.

Cons

Inconsistent with policy enforcement. Management will put you on a PIP simply because they don't like you, citing policies that are never enforced on others, and HR will not have your back. Performance means nothing, it's all about who likes you. Safety of onsite staff is of little to no concern - in fact you can and will be reprimanded or terminated for defending yourself in an office where you are forced to work alone and with no where to hide if a prospect or resident threatens you with physical violence. Property Managers will steal leasing bonuses from you, and will always be favored by HR. Higher ups will talk about "work life balance" and then turn around and guilt trip you for requesting time off for your pre-scheduled vacation. You may be forced to work in an office with no heat because ownership doesn't want to pay for it, meanwhile downtown employees get catered lunches at least once a month, a fully stocked bar, the option to work from home and more. BT will bend over backward to keep owners happy and it always comes at the expense of the onsite staff. Inconsistency in standards across the portfolio makes it difficult, if not near impossible to efficiently move around within the company.

Pros

Good pay, and they have a bar in the corporate office... the upper management likes their drink.

Cons

It felt like high school with weird childish drama and people talk poorly about their coworkers, are nice to their face, and ask managers to fire good people because their personality doesn't fit in their "club". Very disingenuous people.

Pros

Onsite teams are fantastic, getting to know each and every one of your residents and not just see them as another rent check is fun. Having the opportunity to interact and make connections with external people is one of the highlights of this position.

Cons

Benefits have been changed without notice, the downtown office staff is treated with a higher regard than those who are face-to-face with residents and on-site daily. Booze is the biggest pro, but only if you're downtown. Raises aren't equal across the board, and if they're budgeted in (with due explanation,) it's denied before even going to be rough-approved by Portfolio Managers. I've been told directly that I've maxed out my pay for my position and I need to take on more responsibility for more money but I've been doing assistant and Management work since day one. Most everyone is held to individual standards so if any issue arises and a manager or someone from Downtown doesn't like you, you're given an improvement plan and expected to do even more with less and if any further issues come up, you're removed from your property and scooted to a difficult property (with expectation of COMPLETELY changing it) where you'll be physically threatened on a regular basis.
