Amazing Opportunity for Learning & Career Development

Pros

I have worked at a top 4 consulting firm and another start up, and neither have compared in terms of the opportunities available at Blavity. The work is fast-paced and employees are pushed outside of their comfort zones in order to grow their own skills, as well as to add value to the company. It makes a difference to know that your work is acknowledged and appreciated, and that your opinion matters in the office. The Exec Team is very engaged and invested in the personal and career development of the employees, and has made an effort to increase transparency in terms of company goals and progress. They are also willing to have one on ones with employees, which provide a unique opportunity to learn from and be mentored by an Exec Team that continues to successfully grow a company. Blavity has also continued investing more and more into formal training and educational experiences. In terms of culture, everyone in the office is not only supportive and fun, but they are very intelligent and hard working. The people around you push you to be better, but it doesn't feel overly competitive or aggressive. I genuinely view my coworkers as friends.

Cons

There are always some challenges that come with working at a start up. There is a lot of work to be done, so expectations and workloads can be high. The positive is that the expectations are very clear, so there is never confusion about where you stand. Also, sometimes priorities and projects are shifted, but as long as transparency and open communication continues it is easier to stay flexible and trust in the direction of the Exec Team.

Pros

Remote work flexibility. Great opportunity to build relationships across different industries and gain exposure to a variety of brands, partners, and business challenges.

Cons

The organization often felt more focused on activity than impact. Success metrics weren’t always tied to meaningful outcomes, making it difficult to measure whether the work was truly solving customer or partner challenges. There was a recurring sense of redundancy, with teams operating on a hamster wheel of activity rather than driving transformational results. The culture could benefit from a longer-term, value-driven approach that prioritizes sustainable impact over short-term transactions.
