Pros

A small number of data scientists are top-notch.

Cons

Leadership and DS management is awful, treating people like they're worthless. The job's a nightmare, with bosses piling on too much work and no thanks. Pay is extremely low compared to the market average. No job security. Most clients have ditched the company recently, leading to constant job cuts.

Horrible Culture, Terrible Management

Pros

Some of the colleagues are a joy to work with

Cons

Working at this company was quite an experience, and I feel it's important to share my observations: Compensation: The pay scale here is considerably lower, with salaries falling 30-40% below the market average. Projects: Many of the projects I worked on were far from exciting and often involved tasks that were a far cry from data science, frequently becoming mundane Excel-based assignments. Job Titles: The company has a habit of inflating job titles, which doesn't always accurately reflect the actual roles and responsibilities. Management: Unfortunately, there's a noticeable issue with middle management. Many of these managers seemed ill-equipped to handle people management and they consistently prioritizing the company's interests over employee well-being. Diversity: While there's a significant number of employees from Asian countries, it appears the company hires individuals from countries with complex green card processes. They sponsor green card applications but offer considerably lower salaries to these employees, basically taking them hostage. Integrity and Fake Reviews: Following layoffs in 2023, there is a barrage of fake reviews on Glassdoor. A sudden influx of 23 5-star reviews, all posted within a two-day span from October 4 to 6, is definitely orchestrated rather than a genuine feedback. Management Competence: The upper management team often displayed a lack of experience, making hasty and sometimes amateurish decisions. Their recent focus on AI is of note, as it seems they don't fully understand what AI entails. Job Security: Job security is precarious, and many non-managerial employees feel undervalued and unappreciated. There's gonna be a mass exodus in the near future. Benefits: The benefits package is minimal, with basic health insurance that imposed substantial out-of-pocket costs for routine medical check-ups. Workplace Culture: The office culture is tainted by politics and self-promotion, creating a less-than-ideal working environment. Micromanagement is a recurring theme, and at times, employees are even restricted from choosing the font for a presentation. All these factors contributes to a widespread lack of job satisfaction and a feeling of insecurity among employees. If you're contemplating joining this company, it's essential to consider these aspects.

Pros

Junior employees can gain hands on experience then move to a real company

Cons

Extremely political environment with a toxic culture driven by poor leadership, particularly the President. They have lied to multiple people about their job/role and pushed out some of their best talent they had. You can't trust the leadership and since they are all buddies from Merkle when something goes wrong they are the "leaders" who look for people to actively blame rather than resolve the situation. The founders believe people don't quit companies but instead quit their bosses. Yes its ridiculous but it helps the senior leadership push their failures onto others. It also means a manager can inherit an employee who quits a month later and they will hold you responsible so be prepared as this has happened a few times. Numerous people are burnt out and actively seeking other work but these guys are so arrogant they can't acknowledge they might have a problem. Instead they pat themselves on the back with a "high five".
