Thank you for taking the time to review your job. Transit Ambassadors have tough job and your hard work is always appreciated. It's so great to see you mention hospitality. Awesome to see that you "get" what we're trying to do here.

Pros

Usually it's easy to get the amount of hours your looking for in full time. Some stations are very easy and enjoyable depending on your preferences in customer volume, location for breaks.

Cons

Horrible Management with dumb rules and polices that benefits no one in the long run such as no sitting, leaning, eatting or drinking while on duty. Leadership is too scared to stand up to the client when they treat us like garbage with their confusing policies. That is why we now now unionized. They had six years to get it right before that had happened so it goes to show how badly it was needed. Customers are difficult and dangerous, transit police are almost never around when you need them the most, mbta employees(esp inspectors)think they can direct you by either working against you for doing what you're supposed to do or try to tell you to do things you're not supposed to do, if you're new good luck untill you've been around long enough to know better to protect yourself from their bs. Management doesn't understand the client as well as they think they do and want to tell you how to do your job without knowing what they're talking about. Training is a joke because what happens in the field is almost entirely different then what your taught. Do not join this employer. Both Block by Block and the client suck. The mbta is extremely difficult toward everyone including their own employees. So basically youre being tag teamed by the bs of both your own leadership and the dumb client who doesn't know how things should be done to service them.

good for college students

Pros

-Good if you're a college student. Pay is decent, manager is flexible with school schedule -winters are easy, just drive the tuck when it's extremely cold -get to see a lot of the events that happen downtown first hand

Cons

-You interact with a lot of mentally ill people or people under the influence, especially during the summer. I'd have negative interactions with people downtown and the manager would play it off like it wasn't a big deal-- toxic positivity -there will be a lot of trauma dumping -you get yelled at when you take breaks from walking. I formed an exercise addiction and didn't notice until I stopped working-- I had major withdrawals. Too much exercise can also cause damage to your body

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for all your hard work. Our Ambassadors work hard and deal with a lot of "heavy" issues such as mental illness and homelessness. It is stressful and sad at times. We offer free Employee Assistance Plan for all employees of Block by Block. I wish that you had contacted them for some of the cons you mentioned and we apologize if you weren't aware of this benefit. We have the EAP info posted on the website as well as in the handbook and I truly wish that you had seen it. I get great reviews of this benefit.
