The IPO waiting game

Pros

The company has done amazing things with solid-oxide fuel cell technology. This is a chance to work on a disruptive technology that will actually improve the environment and the lives of people, vs. working on a game or app as many of my friends do.

Cons

Politics here are very bad. Management is facing challenges and is secretive about their plans for dealing with them. Widely-known problems are not discussed by management, as if they don't exist. Information is not shared between departments. The company does not feel like a start-up.

Great Pay but Management Sucks

Pros

Great pay. Salary is competitive for the state of Delaware. Had flex schedule, worked remote on Fridays.

Cons

Management micromanages now (changed from before). There is a “good boys club” with top management (all Indian men) if they like you then you excel, if not then you’ll get removed. Expect to be thrown into the pits of fire without formal training. Company does not follow standard operating procedures, if any exist many do not know where to find them in black and white, and the culture is to get it done yesterday. Many walk around on egg shells hoping to remain out of scope. The flex working ability has also been tightened and remote Fridays are being threatened to be taken away. All the while top management will often take zoom calls from home (big surprise there). While the pay was good, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to work here unless desperate for a pay check but quickly find something else. I hate that place with passion.

unqualified upper management

Pros

What is keeping this company afloat is the hard working individuals that usually get no credit or recognition.

Cons

- unqualified upper management. It is very embarassing and the whole team knows it. Most have no degrees and not only manage others with Phds but also disallow them to share their opinion and solutions. - HR department is simply a joke. No Comment! They will eventually learn that the hard way. Again, upperm management is unqualified and that is the main reason here too. - No common sense, always changing directions and plans. - My son's classroom projects in elementary school are managed and communicated better than Bloom Energy's manufacturing operations team. It is extremely sad! - About a fourth of the company employees is related in one way or another. There are managers here that have multiple sons, daughters, cousins, spouses, and the god knows what/who. HR is still sleeping on it unfortunately even if they know it by heart. The disturbing part is that they have rules that disallow that, you go figure... - The company's hard earned revenue is constantly spent on dumb projects, but yet very stingy to even offer a bottle of water to the hard working individuals on the floor at very high temperature with no remorse. - Most of the upper management in operations are old school, tech illiterate, inarticulate, careless, and negligent. - Out of about 60 people, that I work and speak to directly, all of them are unhappy with the work culture and environment. This is again very concerning. - Upper management relies completely on their subordinates to do the magic, pushing them extremely hard with no rewards whatsover. - The director of operations and some of his management team will eventually distroy the business because they are ruthless. Some of the management team have been involved in multiple sexual harassment cases known to HR, maybe, if not it is up to upper management to speak about it eventually. Upper management reaction to that, promotions to the very evil individuals. Congratulations! - The new executive team is very promising and it is the only way and hope out of this misery. So many souls are involved here and only if the company had a decent and average HR team to help, but unfortunately the devil controls it all. - Bloom Energy is a very promising company with an important mission, but unless the executive team at the top get out of their box to make some executive decisions to get rid of these toxic managers, this company will fail one way or another and most likely the hard way. - The manufacturing plants safety is very worrisome. From strong toxic smells, unbearable temperature, radiation exposure, to no hydration to the hard working men and women. - The company's image and reputation is at risk at this point and it is a major failure to everyone who is part of managing it to get to this unecessary condition. - People have rights, voice, and the right to unionize.
