Pros

You have a job that pays

Cons

You have a job where management sucks the life out of you especially if you are an engineer. Never seen so many people leave a company before finishing even a year at Blue. Be mindful of the arguable 5 star rosy reviews being put up by recruiting on Glassdoor to improve company and CEO ratings.

Pros

Awesome facility. First shop I ever worked at where you could easily get along with everyone on the floor no matter where they came from. Quite a few people from out of state since everyone in Washington knows to stay away, so that brings some pretty diverse skill sets to learn from others. Machines are well taken care of, tooling is always readily available. Inspection equipment is very well taken care of, multiple of the same item to make sure no one goes without.

Cons

Management. First off, you're an Experienced Operator who can set up. That's it. Be prepared to be treated like trash no matter who you are, what shift you work or how much experience you have. Forget offering ideas for improvement, yours are no good here. Know a better endmill or turning insert that you've used in the past? Forget about it. It doesn't exist, unless it was in the 90's. Tool paths take unreasonable long and you know a better one because you're an experienced machinist? No you don't. Don't even think that you do. It can't be done. If you're a true machinist, forget programming, it's not allowed. Want to see the backplot from Mastercam while running your 5axis tool paths? Forget about it. You need to read the code and draw a mental picture before you press that button and crash the machine into hardware that's already 6 months behind and is worth more than anything you've ever made before. Also, for the love of God don't sit down.

Pros

Interesting engineering challenges. Great dynamics at the team level. Ample opportunities for exposure to other disciplines. Benefits are decent for Aerospace. High achievers can rise rapidly.

Cons

Transition from R&D house to sustainable business has difficult. Senior Management layers are almost entirely external hires who don't understand the culture that enabled early success. Becoming process driven to the point of paralysis for some business units. Values Big Tech talent but pays Big Aero salaries, making it very uncompetitive in the Seattle area. Management very very slow to react to concerning employee feedback on benefits, leadership, and work structure. Initial slow response to Covid crisis alienated a lot of people.
