Pros

Some BCBAs are great. The majority of my peers (other RBTs) are passionate, or at the very least cognitive in their positions. Treatment room set-up isn’t horrible, majority of the kids enjoy being there to some extent. Client dignity is well taken care of.

Cons

Management treats their RBTs horribly. We get overworked and underpaid ($19 per hour for sessions, but $14 for non-billable hours). There is zero leniency for mistakes, unless you are one of their favorites, then you can do and say as you please to whoever you please with zero repercussions. Majority of us get spoken to like children or animals, especially by the operations manager but also by the clinical director. We are often blamed for systemic problems with zero effort from management to fix them. HR gives zero care into how their employees feel, from personal experience. They care about nothing but the money. Constantly keeping sick kids in sessions and not sending them home so they don’t lose that money. I’m unsure where the money that does come from insurance goes because it is not to us and it is not towards the center in any way. Outside of passionate RBTs, others get away with unethical behavior (apply strategies not in the BIP especially, among other things) and treating the kids horribly (talking to them like literal dogs). Management is fully aware of which RBTs do this and show no effort in trying to retrain them or apply disciplinary action for consistent engagement in this unethical behavior.

Pros

- ability to help families and children - coworkers who care - Trumpet Behavioral Health team that was acquired are mostly good people

Cons

- owned by KKR private equity firm that values profit over people - gaslighting - racism - micromanagement - toxic executive management (the scheduling department leadership is the most out of touch people I have ever had the misfortune of working for) - will fire you if you speak up - HR does nothing to solve problems - closing centers with no notice due to poor company leadership - many longterm executives have quit due to the toxic company management
