Pros

- Most of the people are smart, accommodating & kind. - Work-life balance is very relaxed if that’s something you’re into. Many people don’t roll in until after 9 and are out before 5. - It’s a good product that does solve a need in the insurance world.

Cons

- Toxic, dishonest & demeaning culture from the top down. Tons of gaslighting & back-channeling to shut key people out of decisions. - Leadership is afraid of confrontation, so will say one thing to your face & another behind your back. People don’t get substantial feedback when they ask for it, but then are blindsided with criticism during performance reviews. - People are encouraged to voice their opinions, then punished for it. This results in a lot of smart people turning into “yes people” for fear of losing their jobs. Many people are afraid to post reviews for fear that leadership will trace it back to them.

Listen to your gut...or at least talk to former employees first

Pros

BP hires some of the best people ever

Cons

- BP does not support the great people they hire - BP does not let the great people they hire to do the jobs they were hired to do - With a flat org structure, there are not many upward mobility opportunities - Gaslighting is a common place business practice - The only opinions that matter are of the leadership team - Questionable business decisions that stray into the gray area - Culture is talked about a lot but is not put into practice by anyone with a C in their title I know this list reads like that of a disgruntled ex-employee. Perhaps I am that, but don't let that take away from the veracity of what is written here. While the other reviews here don't reflect what I have written, please do your due diligence and reach out to more than one ex-employee. You will begin to see a trend. It's what I should have done when my gut told me too during the interview process, but I didn't unfortunately.

Waddle Far Away

Pros

There are few pros to working here.

Cons

Penguins seem like one of the friendliest animals in the animal kingdom, until you dig a little deeper and realize they are one of the darkest. Penguins live dark cold lives. This company truly lives up to its name in that regards. Don’t let the branding, free swag, or unlimited PTO fool you. They have the worst Executive Level Management Team out of any company I have ever been a part of. It’s one giant poor performing Groupthink situation. They have few insurance professionals and are very out of touch with the industry they are trying to serve. It’s guaranteed to have a revolving door of middle management, most realize the dysfunction and leave quickly. Stay far away from this icy cold company.
