Pros

The support from coworkers and managers makes our BSE branch feel more like a family than a place of employment, variety of career paths, great benefits, competitive pay, weekends/holidays off, fixed schedule, very friendly environment, peer to peer accountability, managers trust and support employee decisions/ Looking back to my first couple of months, the amount of knowledge that I've gained since starting at Border States Electric, seemed unimaginable. My manager / supervisor allow me to make changes and/or additions that will allow me to better serve my customers.

Cons

My target market is a niche market. Often times my branch doesn't stock the material that my customers need immediately. With that being said, my leadership team supports me 100% when I actively bring new material into stock in hopes to avoid these issues.

Good company, challenging industry

Pros

Company has a great philosophy behind it with an emphasis on employee development. They invest time and money in growing their employees. If you're willing to relocate, there are many opportunities for advancement across the company. The people who work for this company genuinely care about the success of the company and each other.

Cons

The industry as a whole is challenging. The pace is so fast that if you have no electrical experience, you are thrown into the mix and many times must fend for yourself. Because there is no formal training program, it takes a very fearless and ambitious person to be able to jump in with two feet and just figure it out. There are plenty of people available to help answer questions as you go, but the primary method for learning is simply trial by error in many ways.

Pros

This company is employee owned, which really shows in the culture. Additionally the benefits are fantastic. (it's an ESOP) Fantastic company to work for.

Cons

It's growing so fast it's hard to keep up with new positions, departments and people. (a good problem)
