Pros

BCG is a well-known company to work for in terms of its reputation in the consulting world. The company offers the best health benefits I've ever seen and provides in office snacks, breakfast and lunches on a daily basis. The work culture is corporate but friendly and it depends on the location of the office. Overall the company is a great company to work for and the people I have encountered from the top down have been pleasant during my career here.

Cons

Depending on the cohort you work in flexibility is not as flexible in roles like Administrative Assistant. Management puts forth an effort for flexible schedules but in reality, compared to other positions and roles in the company the Administrative Assistants have the least flexibility. Promotions on a large team like the one I work on are slow to come by and seem to be biased at times. You have to take on a load that is beyond stressful to prove yourself for a salary increase in this role. Lastly, feedback is encouraged but not received well so be intentional and mindful about what you want to say.

Pros

BCG is an amazing place to work if you want to learn a lot about industry best practices, how to think in a more structured way, and how to effectively solve problems. You will work hard and get rare and unique opportunities that many people don't get until much later in their career.

Cons

Between the last minute travel and the luck required to find "good" projects, there are a few AFDs (areas for development). While the hours can be grueling, it's not uncommon to be told the night before that you're travelling somewhere for a project starting the next morning. This can make planning your personal life a bit difficult. Finding "good" projects is highly dependent on finding people you work well with (from a personality perspective), which is a combination of luck and finding those with whom you have clear commonalities. For those that come from socio-economic backgrounds different from more senior members, this can be particularly difficult.

Cons

Terrible work-life balance You have to be willing to give up any semblance of a personal life Operating model does not set up new people for success, getting staffed on projects is all about people that you know
