Pros

Working with people who care about patients is still the biggest pro for this or any hospital. I find that is still the case at BMC. Most staff actually care about the patients and do whatever is feasible to provide quality care. Good pay and benefits.

Cons

As the market for healthcare is evolving more 'fat trimming' measures makes for strained relations with management in this big city hospital. Consolidation of assets makes business sense. 30 year RNs not ready to retire are faced with difficult choices. Existing staff can feel threatened. Some feel new RN's aren't having to work fair share of off shifts.

Pros

I was able to work directly under some great doctors and a good supportive team. Good health insurance, excellent benefits.

Cons

Transportation accessibility is minimal. Parking rates are astronomical and direct public transport from outside the city is a hassel
