Pros

you're selling cool items and you meet some cool queer coworkers

Cons

- I got sexually harassed by management - management denied the sexual harassment - I called the safe employee hotline to report things and it turns out the number in the back room was not even the correct number - I am being harassed by said supervisor even after quitting - the supervisor had no consequences - the only thing that changed after I filed a claim was our schedules got changed but I was still getting harassed - HR blocked my number because I was calling too much - the pay is very low $13.25 as an associate and $15.50 as an ASSISSTANT MANAGER - poor communication - gossip, lots of gossip - they dont care about your availability agreement - they have you sign a form when you start working say they can fire you whenever for no reason - i was part time and some weeks I would work 28 hours and others I would work 5

Pros

Good entry level retail store

Cons

- almost always hires from outside instead of promoting from within - poverty wages for everyone except store managers, no raises ever for anyone except store manager - keyholders are expected to do the work of upper management for 50 cents above minimum wage - prioritizes opening new stores over staffing and paying decent wages to existing stores - upper management not held accountable for anything

Pros

Awesome coworkers, discount at all Hot Topic owned stores, fun work environment, quick opportunities for growth, mostly friendly customers

Cons

Upper management picks favorites so things get dramatic quickly, claims to be a "classier" Hot Topic when they're exactly the same minus the music merch, and they won't let you dye your hair or have "more piercings than necessary". Like really? Look at your clientele.
