Pros

Discount was super great, both hot topic and BoxLunch were included. The ability to volunteer at soup kitchens in your region and get paid for it! If you’re a geek, this is the store for you, the ability to talk to customers about anime, Harry Potter and so much more is great in itself.

Cons

Never any full time positions or opportunities, lack of hours, biased behavior from management, higher up management was NEVER involved, pay is low for its position.

Pros

Only pro was co workers we’re chill people

Cons

Management is always trying to get you to upsale, even though you make no commission short shift hours and at times expect you to come in 10pm to rearrange the store.

Pros

I have worked for several corporate retailers, and this company is by far the best. There is really good communication between all levels of management and HQ. The field teams contribute a lot to what happens at HQ which is rare. The company values open and honest 2 way communication. There are a lot of opportunities for growth since the company is consistently opening up new locations at both brands. The majority of District Managers are internal promotes, so they know the reality of managing a store. Higher level management is relatable and understanding. The company will develop you if you are willing to put in the work. The company also values a work life balance and shared responsibilities between all members of the team. There is a reason that so many employees have been with the company for so long.

Cons

Very high selling, visual & operational standards for the amount of payroll each store can use. Mgrs work on single coverage frequently. Pay rates aren't great for part timers. Sales associates work 1-2 short shifts per week. (To be fair, its not like stores are driving a ton of volume to do otherwise) Lots of frustrating tech issues that impact day to day operations.
