Pros

I loved the work that I did. Even though it was challenging, the relationships I built were so worth it and seeing the kids improve. Had some great BCBA’s who were there to help

Cons

They don’t give you any training. After about a month of being in there (with some behavior background too) they told me I was doing it wrong. Um, yeah I come and get spit on and kicked at work and nobody has trained me how to do my job?? Management was not great They also overworked some employees and underworked others. I asked for more hours and they said they didn’t have any, meanwhile my coworker was so overbooked

Pros

- I believe there are many well-meaning people here. - Seeing kids progress was awesome and that we were making a difference (for example, hearing a non-verbal kid talk is very fulfilling). - At least one of the directors got it. They understood my challenges and were very kind to me.

Cons

- There was an insane amount of lies and gossip. Support from management was hit and miss. I had great support from fellow admins, but unfortunately the problems that were going on ran much deeper than what they could influence. - I was supposed to be working part time, but ended up working full time many weeks. I also worked until midnight on many occasions. - When I stepped into the position, I inherited many problems and did my best to fix them. Many things were not being done the way they were supposed to and upper management was not aware until I became involved. - I was in a lose-lose situation caught between making clinicians unhappy, parents unhappy, and behavior technicians unhappy (we were understaffed and as a scheduler, I got blamed for everything). My coworkers thought I was actively sabotaging them - which could not have been further from the truth... - I was making less money than my coworker who started at the same time as me, was much less qualified, and was performing essentially the same role (our responsibilities overlapped but mine were much more stressful and challenging) .

Pros

Helping kids and supportive staff.

Cons

Emotionally draining and physically abusive environment. Lots of barriers to getting paid what you are worth.
