Pros

Working with the clients and making a difference in their lives. The appreciation and gratitude from family members. Working with others that truly care about the clients.

Cons

Working for management that doesn't care about the clients or what it takes to work with them. Expectations are high for what you get in return - which is nothing but overly priced insurance. Working with incompetent people that complain more than they work. The pay is awful and disgraceful for the level of responsibilities involved.

Pros

Employees (mostly temps)work very hard to help support people receiving gov. aide. On paper the services offered could support needy people seeking employment and due to the efforts of the employees some people actually do find work.

Cons

The reality,is that ResCare's (recipient of a large slice of gov. contract) ability to provide consistent and equal services to 'participants' is less than 50%. not exactly a record to be proud of. The ResCare services require a duplication of gov. computer system, resulting in unrealistic data entry deadlines regardless of the weekly over time employees put in. Employment Case Managers job is primarily data entry. Participants hours are ResCare's bread and butter, so data entry is the focus. Also effecting the delivery of services is the enormous data entry errors occurring by temp. employees who receive half the pay that social workers receive for similar work, sporadic and inconsistently training on gov. policies and are treated unsympathetically. Some services require testing be provided in home language:which does not happen. The harsh and selective communication by their director, and 'team leaders' leads to employee frustration, low moral and high turn over. Employment is inherently temporary, and you could be let go any time.
