Pros

Excellent business model, when executed correctly. Work in an agency in the field. I promise it’s night and day difference, the agencies are WONDERFUL

Cons

Lack of proper training, low moral, no accountability, or even learning opportunities come from mistakes. It’s passed to someone else to correct. Team leads also regularly make requests of how to handle policies, and accounts, that are a clear breach of ethics and morals. Which is also a CE course any person who holds an insurance license is required to take regularly. I was astonished at the request made, even more so that my team lead was requesting it. Policies and procedures are more “guidelines” unless you are not a favorite, Then they are strict enforced policies. There are also many “high up” executives who don’t even hold an insurance license, or understand how to read them. Little to no consideration is taken for employees as people. You are a body to fill a seat and answer a phone. If you are looking to thrive in your career and grow with a company, this is not the place to start.

Pros

Better than a captive agency

Cons

All comes down to leadership and who you are working for. Also decided after 3 years that remote workers are no longer welcome on the agency side, but is ok for the internal side

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience working with Brightway. It sounds as though your experience is with a franchise location, and you're correct that Brightway Agents have access to more insurance brands than other agents and as a result are able to offer customers more choice than anyone else. The benefit of being a Brightway franchise owner is that each owner has the freedom and flexibility to run the business how he/she sees fit and shape the office culture to his/her liking. *7/28/2020 UPDATE* In June 2020, Brightway announced changes to allow franchise owners flexibility to employ remote workers. https://franchisebusinessreview.com/page/recession-proof-franchises/ Again, we appreciate your candid feedback.

Pros

I like the people i work with

Cons

the environment, you want to pacify us with things instead of giving us more money, you always talk about how much we help and you wouldn't be where you are without our help, then show us. Don't pacify us with food trucks or $25 gift cards. We bring out lunch any other day of the week, the food truck once in a blue moon means nothing. You don't offer sick days, we have to use PTO for everything. What if i just went on a trip and now used PTO , i have to come to work sick and risk every one else, allow an accruance of hours to use as a sick day SEPARATE from PTO or allot so may in a quarter. The medical that is offered is a little high for what it covers, the vision benefits decreased yet still paying the same amount. You have employees doing the work of 3 or more people and yet don't want to pay them for the work they do, but you appreciate us right?!?!?!?!?

Thank you for taking the time to let us know what you think and for your honesty. We're glad to hear you enjoy your team at work. Brightway strives to offer a competitive benefits package to employees along with perks such as our annual offsite event for employees and their families, Employee of the Month/Quarter/Year recognition and special lunches to show employees appreciation. Last year, we added tuition assistance to our benefits offering and are always receptive to suggestions on how we can improve. We take your comments seriously and are working hard to retain employees and to empower managers to build trusting relationships within their teams.
