Pros

fun/creative place to work (its a toy store). you can build lasting relationships with coworkers and customers. Overall, I highly suggest it, especially as a high school/college job.

Cons

MUST LOVE KIDS & BE PATIENT WITH THEM (it can be challenging at times) Occasionally you will get the spoiled kid(s) that come in but in my experience they were few and far between. Parties can be a little overwhelming for the "party leader" because it is a lot of kids to manage and a lot of different budgets so you have to be strategic in what you suggest to who but still give all the kids equal time/attention.

Pros

Build-a-Bear has a very flat organizational structure so you'll likely get opportunities to work in areas that are beyond a strict job description of your role. Because it is a young cmpany, and because of its current business position, there will be many new challenges and projects. Anecdotal interest among friends, family, and business acquaintances is usually high since you'll work for a stuffed-animal company that makes kids happy.

Cons

There is definitely an old-guard among top management, people who grew with Build-a-Bear Workshop. These folks definitely have pet projects, favourite staff, and a work-style that is not to be reproached. Below the top management there is very little strategic thinking, and the strategic direction set by top management is poorly filtered down. Finally, the company is strongly departmental and change adverse. If you arrive in a good department with a work role that is mostly vertical, it will feel good. If your role is more broad, or your department culture is not agreeable it will be extremely challenging.
