Pros

Where do I start? Constant growth, lively yet professional atmosphere, supportive of employees in all aspects, offers compensation that blows any other local company out of the water. Excellent training programs and employee discounts on not only companies own product offering but many other local services from mechanics, to real estate, gyms, eateries etc..Build cares about its people. FREE apples, oranges, bananas, oatmeal, cereal (and milk!), fresh local roasted coffee, espresso drinks in break rooms. Foosball and video games in break area, awesome covered outdoor patio for lounging or working on laptop, full kitchen where you can cook meals makes you feel at home. Activities where you can win trips, products or even cash! Build offers endless opportunity for advancement and works with me to help meet my goals. I've developed lifelong friendships and a professional network where we share passions not only for the company's best interests but for developing one another as well. Although large, it's a family here and you will find that if you stay honest, focused, flexible, goal oriented, inquisitive, and innovative your career path here can be tremendous. Don't be discouraged if you lack a degree or tons of training. If you actively display heart, focus and drive day in and day out.. incredible things can happen.

Cons

There is nothing I can say has been a con for me about Build that is specific to being a challenge here and only here. Typical of ANY work environment there are many personalities to deal with and departments. Great thing is Management and HR are super supportive in the rare events anything should require escalation.

Pros

The sky is the limit here. The have a strong promote from within policy and many of the people that run the company have spent time on the phones doing customer service work. If you have the desire to work hard and make a career for yourself, this is the place.

Cons

If you usually get by on doing average or just the minimum, you won't like it here. They have very little tolerance for lazy.

Pros

Build.com brought an excellent opportunity for me to grow in an industry I never thought I'd be a part of. It's allowed me to develop countless skills from excel and HTML to photo shopping and merchandising. These are invaluable skills; If you can come up at build.com you can find a job in E-Retail anywhere in the nation, especially since you will have the contact info of everyone in the business! If you are looking to work hard and be recognized for it Build.com is the place in the North State to be. By far the best employer I've had in Chico and the people are great!

Cons

Leadership in general around Build struggles. It's a symptom of the get sh** done culture and having everyone be a 'Doer'. Those that can 'figure it out' excel and those that can't flounder with little assistance without a disproportionate level of "Help me!"

Great review and thank you. Good advice as well as how to deal with our "doer" culture as well. Its a symptom of that and we can do better. I'm sorry to hear about any bonus backsliding. We are constantly turning programs for increased performance, but at a macro level, bonus comp continues to grow every single year per associate.
