Pros

Decent compensation, good benefits, some training classes offered.

Cons

I read an article not long ago that perfectly described my experience working for this company. Build.com "is a workplace culture that encourages fraternal “old boy networks” that inclusively support and encourage networking with fellow males and while at the same time, block female employees from participating in the male-dominated decision-making circles. Bro culture supports the exclusion of women to foster and support values that maintain “the way we always done things around here.” This adage is often actualized as a barrier that rejects difference to maintain the comfortable “company way” of conducting business". You want to talk about politics in a corporate office? This place has got it. I've seen way too many good people (genuinely good, hard-working people) get mistreated here. Nobody wants to speak up because of fear of losing their job and unfortunately it's cultivated an uncomfortable workplace environment. The feeling of anonymity, irrelevance and immeasurement has truly classified this company as a miserable place to work.

Great Company to work for

Pros

They care about you, your life, and your family. The culture is very much about helping you to succeed as long as you're willing to ask questions, communicate your needs effectively, and take ownership of your mistakes. There are so many different types of jobs offered at Build, and even if you start in an entry-level position, there's no limit to the direction or department you can take your career.

Cons

Middle management in the sales center is still actively working on ironing out the kinks with communicating expectations to their employees. However, they still hold themselves accountable to this and willingly acknowledge their opportunity for growth. There have been a ton of big level changes in the company over the last few years, and thus an expected amount of growing pains with that. Our change in CEO has been clutch. However, for those who favored the frat-boy, lackluster atmosphere from before, these changes have proven difficult to adjust to. If you're adaptable, you will succeed. If your attitude is negative, you will not. Management in other departments such as Marketing, Design, SoDev, Tech, and Data seems to be much more seasoned.

Pros

Life / work balance is good here. Unfortunately that literally is about it. I mean seriously I am trying to think of why YOU should come work here...no one else will hire you? Other than that most people can do a hell of a lot better.

Cons

This is the dumbest billion dollar company I have ever known. Most people literally do not know why they are working on the things they are. Oh and if you have a super awesome idea that could likely change the foundation of the company for the better....well be prepared to get laughed at and then have an "executive" own that idea sometime in the future and take all the credit for it. The pay here compared to industry standards is an absolute joke and you can fully expect to do the job you were hired for and at least a few others. But DO NOT expect to get compensated for that. Oh you can also only get a raise during a very short period ONCE per year....lolol. ABSOLUTE joke. Even during this period daddy Ferguson tells all managers to rate employees just under the raise threshold and to not give any out. This is regardless of how you perform. You're lucky to get a cost of living raise here. Like really lucky.
