Pros

Great place to work with a great atmosphere. Everyone is really nice from the bottom feeders like me to the upper management. When you first start, training is great and outlines when you're going to do. Goals are established and well defined. Overall, it's a great place to work and highly recommend it... especially if you're in the Chico area. Easily one the best places to work in the surrounding areas.

Cons

I haven't worked sales, but I've heard it's not nearly as nice over there. That said, I have friends that are doing very well in sales and absolutely love it. Take that for what it's worth.

Perks, opportunity, good pay, fun environment, challenging, sense of community, excellent leadership

Cons

When sales are down, company tightens up a lot which can be a bit of a culture shock when you aren't ready for it.

Thank you for the feedback. For the cons, yes. We're prudent, but that protects better against layoffs in downward moving markets. Agreed on the internal hiring process. We should have review sessions for those that don't get jobs. Great suggestion I'll pass on to HR.

Pros

I got here right out of college and haven't considered leaving yet (4 years tenure). It's a fast-paced yet remarkably relaxed environment to me. There's always smiles and laughter around the office, and generally good times to be had by all.

Cons

I really don't have anything bad to say about Build.com. I'll offer this advice, however: If you want to get into another department, don't try so hard to get there. The quickest way to move up at Build.com is to do great at your current job and make sure others take notice.

Great review, thank you. Much appreciated. Agreed on the cons comment. As far as your advice goes, I'd suggest being put on some sort of performance plan. We really like merit based comp promotions. Don't feel shy to ask for a salary bump if your position is difficult to quantify in that way.
