I don't think I would ever go back

Pros

I very nearly put 2 stars as my end experience was so very, very poor, but looking back at my start at Bullhorn, that would have been unfair. I started in the UK office in the very early days. There was so much energy, the work was so enjoyable, and I met some fantastic people. Nights out were great, but everyone's enthusiasm waned as time went on and the company culture changed. Working within a growing company was so much fun and I discovered a real enjoyment in 'building' which I was not aware of. Art Papas, the CEO, is a very focused and talented guy. The product/s is very strong and something you can believe in. I do believe the business will continue to grow

Cons

There was a huge cultural shift while I was at Bullhorn and the company I joined was not the company I left. The work life balance was getting worse and worse as I was there. 50, 60 or 80 hour weeks were not uncommon. If I had an issue, and raised my hand, I would not get any support and felt very alone. My team was fantastic but were not always in a position to help out. UK Leadership was clearly losing momentum and energy for the job, and this was very apparent in how they dealt with any issues which was, the majority of the time, just shifting the issue to someone else. I do not feel that Art Papas has the right leadership team around him to complement his talents. Sadly over my time at Bullhorn, a big blame culture also started and, whereas I was not personally the focus of this, it did result in bad atmosphere which was a real shame and ruined the environment for everyone. I witnessed some pretty shocking ways that people were pushed out of the business even if they were hitting their targets. I had a number of line managers while at Bullhorn. Some of my managers were great, but my last manager was unbelievably frustrating and took blame and lack of ownership to a new level. At Bullhorn, there was a real focus on having 1:1 meetings with your managers, which is great, but nothing ever came of these meetings and they became more frustrating then anything.

I'm disappointed to read this. Our UK team has doubled every year for the last 5 years and while we've worked really hard to help everyone along in their careers as we grew, we clearly didn't get it 100% right. While I don't agree with your comments about our UK leadership, I do appreciate your feedback. If you're comfortable talking to me directly about it, please email me at kcastelda@bullhorn.com.

Pros

Bright colorful office in nice building

Cons

Young, inexperienced managers that invest lots of time training subordinates but generally with the wrong focus. Overall, stifling work environment since everyone must drink the coolaid and enjoy it.
