      Supportive Team, Growth Opportunities, and Strong Culture

      Pros

      Values are very important at Butternut, we live and breathe them everyday and this forms the basis to our fantastic, strong and tangible culture . Work alongside great people. So many brilliant minds with a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw upon. Fantastic perks and team engagement. I think you'd be stretched to find a company that invests so much time and effort in team engagement. Culture of continuous feedback. This has been something I personally value a lot. We're all encouraged to give feedback not just as part of a feedback cycle, but as part of the day-to-day which I have found hugely beneficial as it helps me understand what I've done well and how I can improve on this. There's never a blame culture as we're all encouraged to embody our valuse of Strive for Better. Encouraged and supported to do your best. Lots of support from management, direct teams as well as internal stakeholders.

      Cons

      Communication could be stronger as sometimes messages can get lost or not reach an entire audience. Butternut has put things in place to address this and it is improving so I'm confident this won't be an issue going forward.

      Supportive line management and a strong team dynamic that makes collaboration smooth and effective. There are good opportunities to share ideas, which are often encouraged and supported for implementation. The culture reflects genuine care for employees, supported by regular engagement surveys, where the results are acknowledged and acted upon to improve the workplace. Introduced Barkademy course to develop future leaders.

      Cons

      The fast-paced growth can occasionally lead to unplanned, reactive tasks and challenges in prioritising workloads effectively. Greater cross-departmental collaboration and more advanced planning could help address these issues and improve overall efficiency.

      The best place I've EVER worked

      Pros

      Before joining Butternut I really struggled to find 'the right workplace' for me. But almost 3 years later, I still feel as excited and engaged with the business as I did on day 1. A few things worth highlighting: - The company's mission is ingrained everywhere, which is really motivating for me personally as a dog owner (and ex-customer). - The people that work at Butternut are kind, passionate and smart. I'm challenged every day which keeps me driven and on my toes. - Career development opportunities are there for the taking for high performers, which means every year there are new projects to take on and get involved in. - Everyone has a voice, regardless of job title or tenure. Diversity of thought is really valued, from the top down. - I've had the best manager of my career so far at Butternut, she inspires me to be the best version of myself and develop my own skillsets as well as my wider team. - The office is beautiful, like really. Such a great space to do good work in. The people experience team do a great job of organising fun social events (random office 'surprise and delights' are the norm at Butternut) - Whilst the company has scaled massively over the last 3 years, it has managed to retain it's startup culture. We still hold company wide standups on a Monday, and retros on a Friday - meaning that everyone feels in the loop about whats going on across locations, sites and projects.

      Cons

      For me this is not a con, as I enjoy the pace - however for those that prefer to be a cog in a big machine, Butternut might not be the best place for you. Every role has a big impact & as such there is a high level of responsibility for the vast majority of squad members.
