Pros

Decent wages, though a small fraction of what they charge parents

Cons

The company is basically a total rip-off... I did my best to teach myself how to teach the SAT, but C2 itself taught me extremely little. Basically C2 just charges parents a ton of money to send their kids off to do practice tests they could just download online

Its great to hear from our former C2 tutors and we really appreciate your feedback. I am especially pleased to hear that your pay was sufficient. It is very important that our tutors are well compensated since they not only teach academic skills, but also serve as mentors and coaches, encouraging and guiding students throughout the school year. C2’s 360 degree tutoring system (diagnostic testing, personalized programs, exceptional instruction and continuous monitoring) cannot be found online. In fact, C2's unique and comprehensive tutoring program has been recognized as the 2016 National Tutoring Association's Program of the Year - Private Practice!

Pros

-Flexible hours -Some of the kids are really sweet and genuinely want to learn -It's fun being in

Cons

I will be the first to say that I had no business working here. This company was/is so determined to churn a profit that they will hire almost anyone as a tutor. I was given almost no training whatsoever for my position. What makes it worse is that I was being placed with students with special needs and learning disabilities- an area where I was not qualified to work in any way. You get lured in with the $20/hour promises, but it's really just as deceptive as a teaser rate on a mortgage (i.e. it's not as good as it seems). $20 an hour will not pay the bills if the center director doesn't like you and doesn't give you enough hours. You only get $10 an hour if you aren't working with students. It's also disheartening to work weekends and late nights during the week (the only times you can really tutor kids since they aren't in school). On top of that, the 3:1 teaching ratio makes it difficult for students to get the help they need. It is unreasonable to ask one person to successfully monitor and teach three children at three different age and learning levels. This is all to say that parents are paying WAY more than $20 an hour for their children to be working with someone who may or may not really be qualified. The truly talented and qualified tutors are also losing out because they have a lack of incentive. Plenty of other companies have higher hourly rates. For those who want or need to improve, there is no help or guidance from management. Overall, the culture is not motivating. I also dealt with sexual harassment but I didn't bother reporting it because I knew I was leaving. Parents and students lose out because they don't really know what they're signing up for and are getting roped in to nonrefundable contracts.
