      Engaging, not that difficult for a college-educated person

      Cons

      Demanding job, learning curve to become "decently good" takes a while, corporate is very disconnected with the day-to-day issues.

      Working with the students is the only reward of this job.

      Not enough pay in relation to area living wages and requiring a bachelor's degree but not paying us as if we have one.

      Conveyor belt "tutoring"

      Pros

      Pay isn't dreadful and it's a good second job. Sometimes you get to really help kids who need it.

      Cons

      Most of the "tutoring" amounts to going through worksheets in a standardized order. This may be helpful to kids in some ways but it's boring and formulaic. We were discouraged from helping with homework because that doesn't put notations in the notebook as to what worksheets were filled out. The paperwork was the most important thing, not the teaching. Also, 3 kids at different levels is just too much to be effective. 2 would be much better. Time to prepare would also be nice. And the pay looks like crap when compared with what the parents are charged.
