Pros

Some of the students appreciate the help

Cons

No advancement, sales focused leaders who do not care about their employees or their students, schedule changes constantly, most people in the company are two faced and will lie into your face to make you do what they want you to do, no benefits, freelance tutors make much more, terrible work/life balance since you work in the afternoons/ at night

Pros

--didn't require professional experience --premade coursework made the actual tutoring easy --decent wages for a recent college graduate --the actual work is rewarding

Cons

--I was told when I applied for the job that I would be working part-time hours, maybe close to full-time. I worked four hours a week, and only then if I constantly asked management for hours. --Training is not adequate-- I was expected to perform perfectly from day one, despite having no in-person training and with several aspects of the job completely ignored in training. --Despite only teaching two classes a week, management expected me to keep my schedule completely open. --I told management that I needed more hours or I would need to look for work elsewhere. Later, I saw an ad for my replacement on Craigslist. I was never informed of my termination or paid for training.

We really appreciate your honest feedback and commitment to education. Please understand that we aim to build schedules as consistently as possible for all of our teachers since that is to the direct benefit of our students. However, teachers who have more C2 teaching experience, along with those teachers who can cover more subjects, will receive more hours and more consistent schedules because they are able to support more of our students at any given time. You will be pleased to hear that we have a new Teacher Development Initiative that provides teachers with different ways to increase their pay while also providing opportunities to grow and develop with C2. We believe in our teachers and their ability to take our students toward their dreams, now and always. Thank you for your contribution.

Pros

The three student model is interesting, the curriculum provided is decent, and there's no driving from house to house. Also when a student cancels, the three student model provides for a back-up so there's a minimal loss in hours.

Cons

The craigslist ads state that there's an opportunity for full time work. That's incorrect. They say that you can make $35,000 minimally; as far as I've been told I've maxed out the amount of allowable raises and I still do not make that much. There are no benefits. They make you sign a contract signing away your 30 minute lunch break or risk losing hours. Losing the lunch break wouldn't be a problem if there were a more stringent planning policy which forces teachers to scramble to re-plan new classes during the break. Finally, the company fails to consistently attract competent management because it insists on underpaying or not paying for performance; even if there were a clear path from tutor from manager, no one in their right minds would want the job.

Its great that you recognize that our 3:1 student teacher model is a great way to accomodate the flexible schedule we provide our employees and families. It sounds like you've had a very negative experience with your local management team and I would like to address your concerns as soon as possible. We love our teachers and I am committed to making sure you feel valued and supported. Our HR and training teams have made alot of improvements to the development and compensation plans that provide you with more options. There is so much more to being a C2 Education teacher than just content knowledge and with these internal improvements, I hope you will agree this postion has so much to offer.
