Terrible Workplace, Terrible Greedy Company

Your colleagues will likely be intelligent people, that’s the only upside.

Cons

Terrible pay (in comparison to hourly rates from other tutoring companies) High turnaround, you probably won’t see the same colleagues after a few months No raise/career advancement No benefits, they want you to be an independent contractor so they don’t have to pay for medical/dental benefits Terrible fluctuating hours; at most this is a part time job to pay a couple of bills Manager at center will take you off the roster last minute, won’t even apologize Greedy amoral company, expects you to reach 3 kids at once to cut corners and save costs! No other tutoring company does this!

An opportunity to work with diverse student population and become familiar with a breadth of subject material and teaching strategies in a semi-private tutoring model.

Cons

The hours are evenings and weekends. There is a lot of pressure to offer more availability and teach a variety of subjects. Schedulers are incentivized to fill teachers' blocks with 3 students at a time (in different grades, subjects, and proficiency levels). There is a lot of turnover in the center coordinator role, so as a teacher you may experience fairly regular changes in leadership style and capabilities of your supervisors.
