Pros

Good position to get your feet wet as a software engineer. Original position was targeted as a Machine Learning Engineering/Software Engineering role, but position turned out to be Solutions Engineering. Had some flexibility to focus on the machine learning/data side of solutions engineering, but the position is still mostly focused on solutions engineering as a whole. Benefits are good though.

Cons

Compensation is less than similar positions. Limited upward mobility (mostly a subcontractor), and a lot of people leave after 1-2 years.

Not their fault but the on-again, off-again of government contracting these days makes it unpredictable and always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
