Pros

It is the City Furniture Associates who make it a joy to come in to work everyday. This trickles down from The TOP, because the President/Owners create such a wonderful City Family corporate culture: from the on-site cafeteria, to providing Free Lunch for all associates on special company milestones, to giving flowers to all the ladies every Valentines day, the fun and thoughtful perks go on and on. Senior Management is Gung-Ho about individual recognition for stellar achievement, quality performance & high caliber work ethic. This company culture is all about fostering a sense of community, by promoting volunteerism and giving back through generous sponsoring of charitable organizations.

Cons

Pro or Con, Success only comes through hard, solid work ethic and commitment, which translates into long work hours, which is a given - for every company. City Furniture sells furniture = Retail industry = retail hours: evenings, weekends, holidays - when the customer is available to shop. Unfortunately, this industry and the hours that come with the territory may not work for everybody.

Pros

Flexible with schedule requests. Good sales early in the week makes for an easy-going week of work sometimes. If you work long hours you can definitely make good money. Becoming a manager quickly is directly related to how much you sell. In order to do well, you must be ruthless and willing to work hard to keep your customer and therefore have the flexibility to choose the showroom that can work best for you.

Cons

Unreliable paychecks in a commission environment. Hard to start in an assigned showroom that may not be the best spot for you (managers come to training and negotiate on sales associates). Doing skits didn't help my sales skills at all. Learning the product helped my sales skills and talking to better salespeople helped.

Pros

Started in August 2001 as a Sales Associate and developed my Career with my current position. I enjoy the work life balance at City, they make sure that I have time for myself and encourage me focus on me and my family away from work. This leads to the second thing Family Atmosphere, no kidding I feel like I am with family when I am at work. I can trust and rely on my fellow purpose partners to have my back especially in time of need, whether is with the job, family or personal. Career development is encouraged, from the time you are hired everyone is encourage to pursue their chosen career path.

Cons

I find that sometimes there are long hours however, working with my immediate supervisor we are able to come up with plan for me to get back the extra time I've put in. There is room for compensation to be competitive.
