Poor practices, inconsistent promotion process
Pros
Innovative product offerings, competitive edge, great benefits.
Cons
- Unlike rest of the tech industry, basic management skills(coordination, organizing meetings, follow-ups) are deemed acceptable to be a technology leader. This creates dissatisfaction among tech employees and limits future innovation. - When someone leaves the team/company, managers don't explore the option to fill the spot with a suitable match by looking outside of the team/company. They lean towards promoting an existing team member, even if they are not a good fit. This shortsightedness has long term side effects. - Random promotions without a logic are common, especially within the Trade Execution group. Promotions should be based on a standard criteria(skills, experience, feedback) to determine readiness, and the same criteria should apply to everyone in all the cases.
