Pros

You can find another job! The day ends, Saturday finally comes.

Cons

Favoritism for young males under 30. To many SVPs (Chubb). Way, way to many. The real money makers need help, more employees! Not titles for newspaper reading managers who barely work while the rest of us work long hours and miss out on family time we can never get back.

Pros

My direct co-workers were a blast to work with. They were engaging and more importantly were a wealth of information when attempting to fit into the "culture" of the company. Other than that, for the office that I worked in, there is not much else that I would list as a positive.

Cons

Starting off, I was told that I would not be starting on the given start date, because the company that they outsource their background checks, could not do their job and left it up to myself to actual run my own background check. First, I am unsure of who keeps W-2 forms for more than 5 years, but if you do, you would be in good standing with this company. So, immediately starting with this company was off on the wrong foot. Secondly, training was non-existent with this company. I come from a similar background with another company, however my training was 10 days. 10 days to learn on antiquated systems that have not been updated in nearly 20 years. I was then told that after 6 months of being on the job, I would be expected to hit 99% percent on a quality metric that is based on a pass/fail system. I know that there are some within the company that can do this, however, given the lack of training and the lack of a grace period, I find this to be ridiculous. Third, management is none existent and in my opinion actually hurt morale. When co-workers overhear comments from management talking about how stressful their job is because of mistakes that we (people in my position) were making, it doesn't quite boost morale. While my co-workers are great to work with and I would go to bat for any of them, they also do not help improve morale. They were all around dejected, and my and large this comes from the company culture that is being expressed. In my time with the company, I was told that system updates within the company were not a priority. Increased responsibilities were guaranteed, and praise would be at a minimum. In this circumstance, when I have been working with companies who have placed millions in developing software to make the "lowest rung" employees lives easier, it is quite shocking that a company like this would not want to be on the forefront of spearheading this endeavor. Especially considering their stance in the marketplace and the amount of overtime that they are spending on employees. Then again, this is from the outside looking in. I am my no means saying that this is going to happen for everyone, however, I firmly believe that experiences at the home office will be entirely different, but for my station, I dreaded coming to work everyday because I found the atmosphere to be toxic.

Pros

good benefits, wonderful team members on site cafeteria was awesome

Cons

Lousy management top down. Culture is one of intimidation and mistrust. When I started in 2007 telecommuting was allowed one day a week., we were empowered to do the best we could and we did! However by 2012 the company began to change, HR was taken over by politically correct staffers (former senate staffers of the President).Culture became we v. they with every thing monitored for political correctness. Emails and everything began to be monitored. The company began to lose business and instead of talking to the employees for ideas to help fix the bleeding they turned on the employees. Monoitoring increased, telecommuting canceled, dress changed abck to the old business drees code. Christmas and all holiday celebrations were banned as they could offend certain people. emails were monitored for the use of certain words that could offend anyone.(except for whites). Meanwhile the corporate online paper touted and hailed "alternative life styles", as well as people of color (no Asians or whites). I was very lucky to be offered a similar position with a market rate salary and normalcy. After almost a year on the job, it is so nice to breathe!
