Pros

They put you through a lot of training. Self administered training with some home office classes. They pay you a base salary to go through this program, so you can learn without pressure of performance. They have one on one training with a marketing manager to teach you how to market yourself.

Cons

They kept telling us in training that the best agents have a slow and steady growth to a career agent. Truth is that if you don't meet your monthly number of home and auto then they find someone else. They use a wierd point system to keep track. I was recrutied to learn and perform in the financial market and products, However, no matter how many points you get in this area you still need to have all your home and auto or your gone. In the end, this marketing trainer was worthless and I was told I did not sell enough of my friends and family.

Pros

A place to get some basic insurance experience. Try out the industry to see if you like it or not. An opportunity to sell yourself on a Management position as that is where the real money is.

Cons

I was an Agent for Country for 14 years. If I had collected a business card for every Agent that came and went I could wallpaper my house. This company is run by old, stodgy mid westerners. They bring you in, sell you on "the dream" and then set benchmarks and expectations that are unattainable. You get fired and they keep all of your clients. I am an Independent Agent now. Sure it is hard starting over but 1)I will NEVER lose my job 2)be told what to sell and how much of it to sell 3)Be lied to. My first few years were fun, thank you for the good times but I should have taken my experience and left MUCH EARLIER.

Pros

The work environment is laid back, friendly, and COUNTRY is a genuinely good place to work. Managers are very friendly as departments tend to be smaller. I really enjoyed going to work every day.

Cons

The company seems to struggle with technology. Unless the current management can turn this around the company will probably struggle to stay relevant.
