Pros

They give you a decent salary to start a career in insurance. You don't have to pay for your office expenses right away. Upper management is trying but is clueless about what the normal managers are doing. Upper management means well and they might lead the company in the right direction in years to come. The benchmarks are very attainable. You can make decent money but beware of your expenses.

Cons

My manager was pompous and was the worst manager ever. It would be smart to be good friends with the manager. Also, if you're friends with the manager, you only have to sell life insurance and the p/c renewals will be given to you. They want you to spend a lot of money on leads. The expenses can really break you. Be prepared to spend hundreds each month on your own life insurance plan to keep your benchmarks going. It's really who you know or who you blow at this company. I see them having an almost impossible time keeping agents in my area. The reps who are left are tied to the job because of the money.

Pros

Training - you'll get good training on auto/home, life, LTC, disability products (all Country products) If you can make it here 2 years you know you can make it on your own as an independent agent.

Cons

- training only on Country products - limited commercial access and training - low commissions and no contingency bonuses at year end for profitability - no renewals until you are "career" agent - they assign accounts from former agents to new hires so they never pay the new hires any commission on them (most new hires are gone within a year) - even as a career agent they can terminate your contract for any reason they want under the guise of "you're not providing financial security" to your clients. So if you build up a large book and want to relax and collect renewals, think again! At Country you are building THEIR business, not YOURS.
