Let me start this section by saying that CPR Cell Phone Repair, while it is a larger company, each location is individually franchised out into either one store or multiple locations. I was a part of the CPR Denver location which at the time of writing this has 7 stores inside its franchise. So if you are looking for something outside the Denver Co area this may not apply. But this franchise is rough to say the least, I had joined on when there were only 2 stores in the franchise and even then we could already see the cracks. We have one district manager and we would always have staffing issues by being short staffed all the time. Any time we would have an interview to potentially hire a new person the owners would always offer the minimum wage possible for the level of work we would have to do. For people who are coming in with no experience that tends not to be a big deal, however if you have a couple years of working on cell phones they will not offer anything more than minimum wage. They will tell you that it is just a starting wage and after a 90 day evaluation they will give you a raise to something better. after that 90 day period they ALWAYS say that is is actually a 90-180 day evaluation and I have seen this with every single new hire. When you finally get a raise its at most a $2/hr raise which is still not enough to get by in Colorado. So new staff is hard to find, they only hire people with no experience and rely on their good techs to train people to be good. Which is a sound strategy, you would assume that the people that have proven themselves with time and effort to be good techs would be paid fairly for the level of work we are expected to bring to the table. No the good techs are paid just over $20/hr which is just barely enough to get by in the Denver Co area. That still is not much of a deal breaker if you are coming here purely for furthering your own career the issue that I keep finding myself to have and many other people is that we can see just how much each locations is bringing in in pure PROFIT, my Aurora store alone which has only me and one other employee (understaffed) has made enough in profit this 2024 in 11 months to pay nearly 80% of all of our employees across 7 locations their entire annual wage. That is outside of the other 6 locations 3 of which are moving many more devices than we are every month by a long shot. We are far from the most busy store here in Colorado and they cannot afford to hire good talent and the good talent they have they refuse to pay a reasonable wage considering how much work we have to do and how much they rely on us for this company to run.
That is just the pay alone and how greedy the management is. This review is already long enough so I'm not going to get into the lack of training, upper management being control freaks, lack of support infrastructure for store managers, the slight insurance fraud we commit sometimes, employees getting charged for damaging a part while installing it etc.
