Pros

As a CSAA employee I have a tremendous amount of freedom to do what is needed to make a difference. Benefits.

Cons

We are in the middle of a reorg and upper management has chosen to down size staff instead of improve marketing and customer service. This will cause further dissatisfaction for customers and take us years to recover from. We did this several years ago and it did not work - why do it again!!!!!!!

Pros

Company went to PTO structure several years ago so more flexibility with planning vacations and time off. Company has competitive 401K matching. It also has a pension plan, though not very substantial for none-management employees but anything is better than nothing.

Cons

The salary is very low relative to industry. Growth potential is none existing. Although company & management talk about continuing development, only senior staff are provided opportunities. Company is also moving to Walnut Creek so commute for employees in SF and/or down the peninsula will be very long. With increase cost of gas and/or commute and low salary, working for CSAA is becoming less of a "good thing."

Pros

If you are a person that is positive, immune to politics, and forward thinking you could bring into CSAA a new culture that would benefit the business needs and the employee needs. CSAA has a good benefit package and at the very top level seems to treat their employees well. Most of the management is good about a work/life balance as long as you set positive boundaries for yourself. Some people can work there a long time and succeed by doing very little work as long as they are pleasant. New employees can see that there is a lot of opportunity for improvement and there is something to be said for making a difference.

Cons

Management keeps changing in the technical areas. There has been three CIOs in the last five years. Each new manager has a set of goals and you have to change direction too often. Because there has been a change of CIO, the management team underneath changes often, so although there is a lot of opportunity there is also a lot of politics with low level/mid level management trying to create there "kingdom" of managers underneath them. Thus, there is a glut of managers with a small team of technical professionals. If you are technical, you have about 5 managers and not enough technical staff to complete the work.
