Pros

Don’t really have to do a lot of work, because Management is oblivious to what is actually being done, and will pretty much be on your good side if your numbers meet their metrics. Vacation time and sick time is a plus.

Cons

Where do I start this company is absolutely beginning to deteriorate, and it starts with upper management. The people sitting on top have an incredible thirst to make the most revenue in the sales organization, but do not provide the adequate tools or resources for its reps to succeed. Being a software company their development of the product is extremely slow and the feature benefits lack functionality that the customer actually pays for. As you can see you will find that they are hiring constantly and that is due to everyone wanting to leave the organization. They have no clue what the market needs in their industry and resort to incredibly high pricing for a product that is mediocre compared to the competition which has caught up in recent years. Management also lacks any morality showing favoritism towards the employees that perform well due to their favorable circumstances including territories and past business exposure. Be aware that you receive all of your compensation breakdown in your offer letter, because they will promise you an obscene amount of potential commission that will be impossible to reach. Some employees are actually egomaniacs who insists that they are above and beyond anyone. The old school approaches for when they were relevant in the early 90’s have created a negative impact on the sales organization, you might want to innovate and try different approaches to be more successful. If you are hired the members are basically a glorified babysitters who will manage your day to day activities and seldom provided any insight into growing you professionally. You will also have members who will at all costs make it a point to avoid any conflict or conversation regarding product and innovation. In terms of Batman characters, you can describe this sales organization as Two Face.

Pros

support a good work/life balance, flexible (generally) with schedule depending on your position within the company, there are some great senior leaders (unfortunately their powers are limited by the corporate culture), support career education

Cons

only focus is to get more customers, not retain them or listen to what their needs are, super high employee turnover (25%), employees are underpaid (especially women I know some that are paid 1/2 as much as their male counterparts) no career growth unless you know the CEO or are member of a not to be named church (in which case you are paid well to often do very little and you can't get fired! Dead weight is okay at this company), but regular workers are "good soldiers" who are underpaid. Very disorganized, systems are nearly 30 years old. This company needs systems and processes and to spend money getting organized. They wake up one morning with a new idea and roll it out with the "let's see what happens" attitude. Sell it now and figure out how to fulfill it later! Not employee focused. they lose good people once they've gained enough work experience to move on.
