Is this what Corporate America has become?

Pros

Work from home. Able to have a large corporation on your resume.

Cons

Too many to list! Layoffs are so frequent that morale is nonexistent! Everyone was so scarred in losing their job that no one did anything in case a mistake was made and then they would be on “the list”. Finger pointing, laying blame and Stonewalling was an art form. The quality of the offshore (India) employees is absolutely atrocious! They thought they could save money by hiring 3 people in India for what it would cost for 1 American’s salary but it takes 5 Indians to do the job! Painful language barrier and horrendous IT skills. Mind numbing bureaucracy that it takes filling out 10 forms just to get your shoe laces tied. Most managers are lobotomized bureaucrats and do nothing but ramble on about policy and procedures. Stock is at an all-time high because they are past trimming the fat and the meat and are sawing through the bone. The Author of Dilbert would have enough material that would last him a decade if he had a chance to be a fly on the wall at CSC.

Cons outweigh the pros now

Pros

Great people to work with, opportunities to learn new tools, tuition reimbursement, telecommuting

Cons

Layoffs have led to understaffed teams, overworked people, stressful situations, and loss of job satisfaction. Add to that the decreasing benefits coverage, increased cost of benefits, mandatory vacation policies, and merit program where they cannot evaluate you based on your true performance, poor merit raises (if any) that don't even cover the cost of living increases.. The recent strategies and policies make employees feel unappreciated.

Good and Bad

Pros

Great people to work with...some truly brilliant people. Customers, for the most part, are also terrific. Lots of flexibility to work remotely, etc.

Cons

You are absolutely NOTHING more than a number & a salary to upper management (and I mean upper executive level). You can spend 12 months on a billable project working 80 hours a week (and of course YOU only getting paid for 40 of those hours while CSC is paid for ALL). The day that project ends, you can be shoved out the door. It really is that bad.
