CSC was full of a lot of negative corporate sterotypes

Pros

Lots of opportunities to move into different jobs and different fields. CSC is very open to hiring and moving within.

Cons

Over managed from the top. I've had good solid middle management. Poor Senior management. CSC is also a very fractured company. This makes it easy for the individual to move, but there is lots of infighting between groups.

1. Good variety of work 2. Opportunities for growth, IF you are willing to travel 3. If outsourced, ability to work at multiple client sites (variety)

Cons

1. Mediocre benefits 2. Basically a job shop, not good for your career unless you manage it yourself 3. Some really old, lame tools (Lotus Notes? Fred?) 4. Had to beg for PC upgrades, and then received used, not new 5. Frequent layoffs, work furloughs 6. Training available, but only online.

Pros

Some positions can work remotely Middle management is trying to change the "military" mentality and caste system.

Cons

Caste System - No title = no knowledge philosophy Not my job, Not my fault, finger pointing, CYA environment ... makes employees less productive You must be skilled at self promotion in order to survive. Merit alone won't do it. Therefore there are people who have no trouble taking claim for work that is not theirs. Senior executives continue to manage by fear of losing your job There may be other areas outside of business development that are not like this but I haven't seen any hints that it exists. I don't have enough time to list everything except "RUN!"
