CYA is the core company principal

Pros

Most of your co-workers are genuinely good people. The pay is (was at least when I was hired) better than other places.

Cons

The driving principal at the company seems to be CYA. people who take responsibly don't seem to stay long term. Management seems incapable of decision making; the decision always comes from another department or somebody higher up in some other building. Human Resources? that's an 800 number for you to call during normal business hours. They seem to feel that requiring 5-10 hours of overtime every week from the entire team (of about 20 people on my team) equates to not only adequately staffed but time for a Reduction in Workforce, Apparently there wasn't enough work for us even though we were constantly being required to work 'extra.'

Pros

Management doesn't know what is going on so...they don't track you very well.

Cons

Management doesn't know what is going on so they don't track anyone else either.

Pros

Comments related to long tenured experience in US and Commercial (GIS) sector. Having seen several changes in 10+ years, this recent change is not positive since 2012. Do your research and I would advise my personal friends to look elsewhere or approach with your eyes open. I have waited several weeks past my reduction/job elimination to write this with facts and honest not emotion filled response. - Ability to work remote - Individual relationships, were still few good people left doing nothing but best job possible - Some new technology and services, some positive global name recognition

Cons

- Remote work inconsistently applied within teams - Reductions and moving work offshore are now removing many strong, knowledgeable people in US with no consideration for job transfers - Posting of jobs which were just reduced, only change US location (ethical?!) Unfortunately the cost of legal pursuit in US out weighed benefit. - Mandatory use of vacation at specific dates, must use vacation time and borrow from future if don’t have any left. Promises of one time event, but continued over many years - Drastic changes and elimination of benefits – pension eliminated, 401k continued changes, health care to an exchange so no different than government marketplace - Berating ,which bordered on bullying directly to finance individuals for the business to improve profit. Not leadership or challenge, but very negative from so called executives. I had worked in several companies shutting down/poor business environments, but nothing like this. - 8 of 10 reviews here from current and former employee sorted by “finance” title “does not recommend”….that should be clear advisory if you are considering joining finance team. Be sure you are aware, no one will look out for you. Document and cover your actions / requests / issues. - Research >> ethics/ business practices / overall situation of company: SEC / CSC/ UK National Health Service $190M (June2015), Delays/performance issues NCTracks (April 2015), CSC switch private health exchange and gets sued (April 2015), Will CSC Agressive Cost Cuts Help in the Long Run (Market Realist March 2015) , Bribery/Servicemesh/Australia (Feb2015), CSC sue IBM poaching employees (Jan 2013), CSC / Bell Curve (April 2014 Washington Bizjournal & writer Jill Aitoro), CSC Chief Human Resource has Resigned (Washington Bizjournal May 2015,) along with prior CHR and Controller changes. How CSC Drove out much of workforce on purpose (Washington Bizjournal July 4, 2014) Once proud to work hard, rarely easy, but no longer that same ethical company.
