Pros

I was fortunate to have a great boss and was able to work from home at least one day a week.

Cons

It is groundhog day every day there. Every day I went in there was some new direction or decision that was made by management and I just knew it would be a disaster and a ton of work down the road. At least one month of every quarter I worked every single day of the month. I am not being facetious in any way. There would be some mid year change or issue or something and my team would have to work every day for at least a month. I would not be able to take make up that extra time in the other two months of the quarter as I had to catch up on other work. So for at least one month of every quarter, I had to work at least 80 hours a week and the other two months I had to work at least 50 hours a week. Do not work at CSC unless you literally have no other place to work. I was not fired when I left CSC. I received outstanding reviews and raises from my bosses. When I said I was leaving they begged me to stay. I am not bitter, but I did leave to take a new position with a substantial pay cut just because I disliked the environment so much. Please take this review seriously.

Pros

Because they have a strong IT component and are essentially a behemoth in doing a lot of work that few other companies find worthwhile, they'll definitely maintain a stronghold in contracts nationwide. In short, they will never run out of work.

Cons

Besides being extremely disorganized in terms of how they adapt their acquisitions into the fold, or how they train up and promote their staff (they have a lot of structure but the standards are pretty arbitrary), they don't work to keep people. The turnover when I was there was quite high and definitely incorporated into their culture.

Pros

It is a large company, so there is a chance of finding a niche group that works well together and makes for a positive work environment.

Cons

The company does not seem to care about its employees. Benefits are not that great to begin with, and seem to be getting worse each year. Yearly raises seem to be lowering each year. The company culture is also not great. It seems like promotions are given to yes-men and people who are able to avoid getting blamed for making bad decisions, while true hard work and value are largely ignored. There seems to be little to no repercussions for higher level employees who repeatedly make bad decisions. My greatest concern is that there is very little focus on providing a high quality service/product to the clients. There is more focus on finding ways to regroup a service in order to charge a client more, or to deliver a product that covers a lot of buzz-words but that is not nearly as useful/functional as it could be.
