Pros

The employees are the best part of CSC, you will find smart, hard working and very cooperative employees. People will always lend a hand and go out of their way to lend assistance.

Cons

Management. There really is no leadership so one can't call it that so management will have to do. There is no clear strategy except one, reduce headcount. Revenues are shrinking and the only way margins are even decent is massive cuts to expenses which have gone too far and destroyed the companies ability to sell and deliver

Pros

Starting salary ahead of the national average for SAP consultants. That's one of the few nice things I can say about my time with this horribly managed, quasi-capable SAP practice. I also enjoyed working with some very bright colleagues from around the globe, unfortunately, they too became fed up with incompetent management and found more worthy opportunities.

Cons

The CSC experience largely depends on your project management team. Sadly, most experienced CSC consultants said the company employed more rotten management apples than ripe. The cons an associate will find in CSC's SAP practice are too numerous to list, however, I'll do my best to accurately portray my experience at the Mickey Mouse Consulting. First, CSC associates are no more than mere seat fillers. Get used to filling out mindless TPS reports while the rest of the team downs a T-bone and shots at the Ritz. The client will disrespect you since your own management does so by making fun of your duties. HR and the interviewer said I'd work in SAP. The only SAP I saw was on a tree outside. Unless a warm body is needed for a paperboy run, you'd be lucky to get anything other than a "good morning" from those ranking higher. And that's on a rare sunny day when the CSC team hasn't been lambasted for another go-live delay. As an associate, you need to get used to the number ZERO. You'll get ZERO training, ZERO mentoring, ZERO support, ZERO, ZERO advancement, and ZERO future. In line with the other reviews, working 20 - 30 hours of "highly glorified secretary" overtime Monday through Sunday is expected. This isn't for 2 or 3 weeks. It's for 5-7 months at a time. I would estimate that 90% of my colleagues were actively looking for work because of this. Don't even think about working from home on Friday! As a local associate, you're on-site with the client. This is extremely damaging to your network as you'll never have the opportunity to network with consultants based out of your local office. Benefits. Health Insurance is mediocre at best, 401k match and vesting schedule is extremely stingy, and I was forced to work many paid holidays. Promotions: See Peter Principle. I also found performance review to be EXTREMELY clinical and impersonal. A manager who I rarely saw gave the review. They said that I did great, but wouldn't be receiving a raise since we, as a practice, didn't meet our goals. Layoffs: At any given moment, you could get the call. I saw many consultants with the company less than 2 years getting that call. You're there on an as needed basis and will be gone the second they don't need the paperboy. Believe it. Management: Meetings with Jim, Jack, Johnnie, and Jose before lunch. Do I need to say any more? If you are truly interested in having a career in IT consulting, don't waste your time interviewing with alcoholics. Connecting modems to routers with RJ-45 would give a better foundation that working for the Complete Sham Company.

Going in a bad direction

Pros

The company still has a large number of good people slaving away, but management continues to prop up the stock price at the expense of preparing for the long term.

Cons

The company is going through an amazingly slow and overly painful transition into something that can be sold. The company has implemented a string of anti-employee policies. 1) Health plan is based on salary, so the more you make, the more you pay and if you are lucky enough to get a raise and cross into the next band, you might actually bring home less than you did pre-raise, 2) one week of vacation is now mandated to be used at the end of the year combined with reductions in the amount of vacation that can be carried over to the next year, 3) still paying a 50% match on the first 3% into your 401k, but instead of at each pay period, its now at the end of the year so if you leave or lose your job, well, the company saves a bit, 4) 401k plan administrative fee of around $1-$2 a quarter is now borne by the employee instead of the company - minor but symbolically horrible, 5) elimination of management bonus plan, 6) forced ranking, but hey, even people who received the highest score didn't get a raise so why did they bother implementing?, 7) endless ban on non-billable travel, 8) on travel expenses, they even want to see what you ordered, 9) endless waves of RIF's, etc.
