Pros

You can learn how to handle large amounts of stress and how to deal with rude customers. Also, since you're on your feet all day, it is good for becoming more active, almost like a paid diet program. The work schedule is also reasonably flexible.

Cons

1. You need to beg for breaks, and sometimes they forget to give you a break or reduce it. You need to get permission just to go to the restroom. 2. DSTs cannot work independently. You have to always follow the demands of the bossy phlebotomists. There are no exceptions, even if you are in the middle of doing another task that was assigned to you. Phlebotomists are de-facto bosses, and you’re just their slave. 3. All you do all day is stand, setting up and disconnecting the donation machines like a robot. 4. If you’re part time, they will make you take an hour (unpaid) lunch when it’s not busy or even tell you to go home early. There is no way to predict how much pay you’ll take home when they reduce your hours like this all the time. Sometimes they sent me home after working just 3 hours when I scheduled to work at least 6 hours. 5. The work schedule says 12-close (8hr), but the closing shift never ends at 8. Closing time is not fixed, and sometimes you can't leave until after 9. 6. You work 35-39 hours a week but you're still part-time without benefits. 7. Many donors are rude, smelly, or both. 8. If you’re a man, you are always tasked with heavy-lifting. 9. If you want phlebotomy training, you have to brown-nose the managers. They play favorites. 10. You receive way too little pay for the amount of work involved.

Pros

There are only two benefits to working at a plasma center for CSL. One is health insurance. Two is the people you work with, as some of the donors and fellow employees are good people. But every other aspect of the job is horrendous. Seriously. Everything else is terrible. This is the worst company that I have ever worked for.

Cons

I could write an actual book on how the cons of CSL Plasma. Instead, I will just list them out, for the sake of my own sanity: - Everything is outdated. Our technology ran on Internet Explorer. Yes, I'm serious. It still runs on it, despite the search engine being shut down earlier this year. All of our machines, medical devices, and everything in between ran on Internet Explorer. Now imagine how behind everything else is in the company (the newest version of Excel I ever used at CSL Plasma was 2010...). - Management above you does not care about you. Never once was I consulted about any changes despite being a leader at a center. Executive leadership willy-nilly makes changes and expects things to magically get better. You do not get praised for good work, or asked if you need help. Instead, you just get reprimanded for inaccuracies or falling short of unrealistic expectations. - All the internal systems are outsourced, except for HR. HR is a nightmare to work through. I have been at a new company for over two months, and I still have unresolved HR issues that I (as a previous manager) am dealing with. It's insane the incompetency of some of these departments. - Trying to make a positive change? Good luck, as every system in place is outdated, and the people in power positions will work harder to hinder you than to help you. - Like work-life balance? Neither does CSL Plasma. Expect long days, being underpaid, and dreading waking up every morning. The only two holidays you get off are Christmas Day and New Years Day if you're in a center, so say hello to working on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and more! Seriously, avoid CSL Plasma at all costs. You are nothing but a number to this company. They do not care about you, and as soon as your usefulness has run out, you get tossed aside.

Pros

Good coworkers, health benefits, EAP, builds resume with healthcare experience

Cons

Short staffing, plasma over people culture, lack of transparency between workers and administration, pay doesn't reflect amount of work (end up working 3+ roles, but pay doesn't increase to reflect that increase in responsibility), rotating schedule, lack of protection from donor harassment
