lay offs, repetitive work most days

very hard work, hot outside around the rails and rocks and ties, long hours work away from home a majority of the time

Always on call. Holidays weekends nights mornings. Hard to make plans outside of work. Always in the elements.

Management turn over in some areas is ridiculous. Management/supervision out for blood! Benefits decrease, premiums increase, union dues increase, pay good but going down as cost goes up. Unions are not doing their jobs.

Little or no family life, no upward mobility, glass ceiling for minorities( look at UPPER management), Very stressful( ever heard of "run-off insurance"?). Benefits come thru Union/ you must belong to a Union. Constant testing and evaluation. Somewhat dangerous, easy to get killed or dismembered on the ground as a conductor. Very adversarial relation with management who must "test" and have a percentage of "failures" resulting in punishment (usually time off without pay).

Cannot manage workforce. In good times, they hire in bad times they let people go Now is not a good time to join with new leadership

Company going through a very hard time as new CEO is focused on temporary share price at the expense of headcount, assets, culture and all the things that sustain a company beyond near term results.

No time off. Very little vacation. No sick days. No personal days. Shift work is for the birds and horrible days off

high stress, it is real life and problems occur to train and everything that effect time.
