Pros

The people I worked with were great other than that it was the worst experience of my life !!!!

Cons

Cons there there are sooo many!!! sexist treatment, insulting wages, rampant favoritism. Unreasonable work loads and expectations. The constant bullying and intimidation tactics used as motivators.

Pros

Cabela's is an exciting outdoors outfitter. I worked at the NICS Counter, or ATF Compliance, where the final firearm purchase is made. Cabela's genuinely believes in the legendary experience for all customers; however, they are also genuine in their motivation to keep the business highly profitable.

Cons

Richfield Cabela's is strife with management issues. I was hired as the ATF Compliance Lead (NICS Lead); however, after I came onboard, an internal (and I must say highly qualified) employee was given that position. This is titled "Say Anything" as my two interviewers told me nearly 'anything' to get me in the door. For instance, "We were going to hire you without an interview, but we must do this for corporate policy. You will make a perfect Lead and could manage the entire Gun Counter." "I can't wait to see how the guys will straighten up under your leadership." Of course, you can imagine my surprise when the entire plan was to promote from within for this ATF Lead position. Terribly disappointing. Lastly, the pay after training is $10/hr for the ATF Compliance/NICS Counter. This is grossly under par given the responsibility and intricacies of these Outfitters.

Pros

You get to look at some nice equipment you usually cannot afford. You get to try to convince customers that the junk the company is trying to push is junk.

Cons

No guarantee of hours. Did away with department managers and switched to toadying section managers. NO pay raises. Poor benefits. Pushing company owned credit cards. Poor employee discounts. Extreme favoritism. Forced to sell garbage. Staff trained in what to sell by vendors. Often no real knowledge of items no real time to test items. Company knowingly sold defective merchandise. Forced to drive point sales and disregard trying to get return customers. Constanttly trying to have retail sales staff work at registers instead of trying to do their jobs and sell merchandise. Refusal to give commissions. No sick leave. Pressure to stay at work in very bad winter weather instead of going home when safe. No chance of advancement they do not promote from retail to corporate. If you have a scheduled day off and haven't hit your 40 hours for the week you are on call. Cutting back on hours,
