Pros

It's a job. The discount, if you last long enough. You will learn a ton. It will look super fine on your resume.

Cons

The "culture" they beat into your head is a joke! Some of the issues they have experienced are retail 101, yet they struggle so hard to find solutions. You best be ready to be lied to! Pay stinks. Even if you are the most qualified, NO chance for advancement unless your "in someone's circle." You must think as they think, act as they act. There is no room for that breath of fresh are type of employee.

Pros

Store has great products, quality outfitters with many different backgrounds.

Cons

Does not promote from within, continuously hires management from big box stores, SAMs club. Best Buy etc, Those managers hire their buddies from those companies most of which know little to nothing about hunting, camping, fishing etc. lots of talented people at the outfitter level but no future!! Constantly cutting hours to skeleton crews, poor customer service when no one available in entire department to assist them.

Pros

Discount on sporting goods. Great customers to work with.

Cons

Over bearing supervisors that love to criticize you in front of other employees. The customer is never wrong - it will be your fault. Lots of promises when you apply that are soon forgotten when you are hired, or the policy is changed. A lot of talk about high values and great work culture - it's just talk.
