      So far so good...normal ups and downs of right hand not talking to the left but generally stable

      Pros

      Very upbeat and potentially fun place to work. If you are an outdoorsy person you will LOVE working here. Very cool products and pretty good employee discount.

      Cons

      Little to no instruction on how things are to be done. We are currently stocking the store for opening in April and a lot of times you are just told to go do something without being told how to do it....or even worse you will be told how to do it and another manager will come along and tell you to stop doing what you are doing and/or totally change how you are doing it. Classic case of right hands not talking to each other and the left being out in the field stratching their heads.

      Pros

      If you love the stuff we sell how can you not enjoy working here? I genuinely like my job. I've worked in the retail store and in the distribution center. There is opportunity for advancement if you have a well rounded set of skills and strong inter-personal skills. One of the few places left where you can build a decent professional career without a college degree.

      Cons

      I've read the reviews on this site and I agree with a lot of them. There are still systemic problems that need to be recognized and addressed properly. There has been a huge cultural change since Millner took over and a lot of the "BS" is going away. Retail Management is in need of an overhaul. Too many young adults in high places that care about little more than scratching their way up the Corporate ladder at the expense of others.

      Pros

      The other Outfitters are about the only thing that keeps me coming to work. Some of the customers The discount is okay

      Cons

      TOTAL lack of communication from top to bottom. "Leaders" that are incapable of leading a parade much less a business. Most of the managers came from Walmart,Best Buy,Lowes and Home Depot. Cabela's is supposed to be more of an experience that going to pick up a toilet gasket or a gallon of paint. It appears that making bonus by keeping labor costs low is the primary goal of the Allen mangement team.
