Pays well, tips can be good, people are (as a whole) very polite towards staff, sometimes given free food from buffet.

Cons

Management can be confusing. Certain managers can be harsh to new employees. Casual shifts, meaning you may not work much at all if new. Little opportunity to advance. Always standing, little breaks

Within leadership there are lots of opportunities to learn new things if you ask, and align yourself with strong leaders.

Cons

Tough "good old boys" mentality amongst management. Hard for underrepresented groups to break into/stay in leadership. Compensation is competitive within big-box hospitality, but will never be able to compete with many other industries (I realize it is unrealistic to think it would, but it's a reality that this is why many folks leave).
