Pros

The people you work with on a day to day basis. It starts to feel like family.

Cons

Positions have been eliminated. The only thing that seemed to matter was what someone salary amounts of the employee (except for the properties executive staff). The GM & VPs should have offered to reduce their 6 digit salaries, (GMs probably 7 digits but not confirmed) by a little or cut the yearly bonus to be able to keep more of the employees whose positions were eliminated. Now the employees that are left are worried that they could not have a job any day now. And they are not only handling their previous responsibilites but now the work of several employees. They are strected too thin and are being run into the ground. Can they complain? No they can't. Because they are too aftaid of losing their jobs too. And who can blame them. Yes, I understand that sacrifices have to be made in these hard economic times but it is only the mid level and lower Harrah's employees that are making the sacrifices. Not sure how it is at the other properties. Saying you care or posting a letter or sign that you care doesn't mean a thing if it is NOT TRUE. The employees can see right through it. The level of trust that the company will do the right thing will NEVER be the same. Could the "execs and up" even imagine how much it would have meant for them and to the community that they cut bonuses for "execs and up" to be able to keep even just some people employeed even it it was just for a little while. The employees might have then believed that they did care about their employees. I used to be proud to work there. Now, I can't say that I am.

Pros

Great benefits in both health and life insurance. The company is one of the largest employers in the area and for the most part are well respected within the local communities. The gaming industry is an ever-changing and yet exciting profession.

Cons

Current downsizing based on the economy. With various new government regulations in place, there has been a reduction in business and thus a reduction in staff. Makes you sometimes wonder what each new day will bring
