Pros

Leadership has a strong emphasis on communications and culture. It's always made clear how my personal goals relate to corporate goals. Company also has a strong emphasis on helping employees to build retirement plans. This company has spent more on my training than all of my other employers combined. Pay and bonuses are extremely competitive.

Cons

Entrenched silo culture is still present and slowly being eroded away. This sometimes leads to political battles over what seems like minor issues, but it's becoming less and less common as time goes on.

Pros

Good benefits, Good pay. Challenging work with very sharp people.

Cons

Not enough management support on projects and a culture of pointing fingers rather than fixing the root cause. Shoot the messenger type of environment. A lot of politics between departments. The CAISO is way past it's days as a startup but has had trouble growing into a professional organization that cares about it's biggest asset...it's employees.

Pros

Very good benefits, competitive pay, CEO/management makes a good effort to communicate company direction, new building and good office supplies, dynamic environment where employees can be exposed to the power industry. Good location (close to Sacramento, San Francisco, Napa Valley, Tahoe, among others).

Cons

Most times you are working to be extremely efficient with work. There is always more work that you can possible do and therefore employees have to constantly juggle different tasks and reevaluate priorities on the go. There are opportunities for growth but you have to keep on your toes and and ask for it, specially in the IT department. Also there are many silos throughout the company.
