Pros

Caltrol is a flat organization so you feel very connected to the company. It's also an employee owned company so people tend to pull their weight. Managers are easily reached and take suggestions into consideration. Great benefits! Teamwork is huge here and people in the office are very helpful and friendly. There are usually several events around the office including potlucks and office holiday themes.

Flexible work hours and no pressure to be in office just for the sake of visibility. Autonomy to manage your own time and deliverables. Some individual contributors are talented and committed despite systemic issues. If you're politically savvy, there's room to climb.

Cons

Leadership tends to trust a select few, often forming one-sided opinions without hearing other perspectives. Cross-team collaboration is poor—teams operate in silos, and internal competition outweighs team spirit. Recognition and decision-making are often influenced more by proximity to power than by performance or merit. Open feedback is rare; people hesitate to speak candidly, knowing that only certain voices are heard or rewarded.
